The Pupil Leadership Team is a group of Year 6 pupils at Holy Family who represent the views, ideas and interests of our pupils across school. They help to make the school a positive, inclusive, and inspiring place for everyone. They act as role models for our school values through their behaviour, attitude and commitment to learning. 

What do the pupil leadership team do in their role?  

•  Represent the voices of all pupils and ensure their opinions are heard 
•  Contribute ideas to improve school life, learning, wellbeing and the school environment 
•  Promote respect, kindness, inclusion and equality across the school community 
•  Lead and support school initiatives, events, fundraising activities and community projects
•  Welcome and support new pupils, helping them to feel safe and included 
•  Encourage positive behaviour and model high standards of responsibility and teamwork 
•  Gather feedback from classmates through discussions, surveys, or class meetings and share this with school leaders

Our Pupil Leadership Team help to create a school where every pupil feels valued, respected and empowered to make a positive difference. 

Communication Team

The Communication Team at Holy Family are our school council. They have been elected by their peers to represent the views of their classmates and help to improve school life for everyone. They provide an important pupil voice, ensuring that children's ideas, opinions, and suggestions are listened to and considered when making decisions about the school.

As members of the School Council, pupils meet regularly with Mrs McConnell to discuss issues that matter to the school community, gather ideas from their classmates, and work with staff to bring about positive change. They help organise fundraising events, contribute to school improvement projects, support community initiatives, and promote our school values through their leadership and actions.  

Mini Vinnies 

At Holy Family, we have a team of dedicated pupils who are inspired bu the the values of the Society St Vincent de Paul Society. They work together to make a positive difference in their school, local community, and beyond by helping those in need and encouraging others to care for one another. As Mini Vinnies, our pupils lead by example, organising charity fundraising events, supporting local and global causes, promoting acts of kindness, and encouraging everyone to live out the school's values. They develop leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and empathy while giving their time and talents to help others. The role of a Mini Vinnies member at Holy Family is to be a caring ambassador for the school, showing respect, inclusion, and generosity in everyday actions. Through their work, they live out our school mission statement each and every day. 

Reading Ambassadors 

Reading Ambassadors are pupils who have a passion for reading and help to inspire a love of books across the school. They act as positive role models, encouraging others to enjoy reading for pleasure while promoting a welcoming and inclusive reading culture.

As Reading Ambassadors, pupils support reading activities such as book fairs, reading events, library organisation, author visits, and World Book Day celebrations. They may recommend books to their peers, help younger children choose suitable texts, listen to younger pupils read, and share their enthusiasm for stories and literature.

The role of a Reading Ambassador is to demonstrate a positive attitude towards reading, treat books with care, and encourage others to develop confidence and enjoyment in reading. Through their leadership, they help create a school community where reading is celebrated, valued, and accessible to everyone.

 

BU Group

Holy Family's BU Group is a pupil voice group that work closely with Mrs Clark to provide an opportunity for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to share their ideas, experiences, and opinions about school life. The group helps to ensure that every child's voice is heard and valued, contributing to decisions that make our school an inclusive, supportive, and welcoming place for everyone.

Members of the BU Group meet regularly with Mrs Clark to discuss what is working well, identify areas for improvement, and suggest ways to make learning and school experiences even better. They may gather the views of other pupils, take part in discussions with staff, contribute to school improvement initiatives, and help shape decisions that affect the wider school community.

The role of a BU Group member is to represent the views of their peers with honesty and respect, listen carefully to others, and work collaboratively to promote inclusion, understanding, and positive change. Through their contributions, they help ensure that every pupil feels valued, supported, and able to succeed.

Mental Health Champions 

Mental Health Champions are pupils at Holy Family who help to promote positive mental health and wellbeing across the school. They encourage kindness, inclusion, and respect, helping to create a safe, caring environment where everyone feels valued and supported.

Our Mental Health Champions have received specific training through One Goal and have learned all of the key aspects of their role. These pupils work alongside Miss Handley and Mrs Hancock and help to raise awareness of wellbeing through assemblies, awareness days, and school initiatives. They encourage positive friendships, promote healthy ways to look after mental health, and help pupils understand where they can go for support if they are worried or upset. They also gather pupil voice to help improve wellbeing across the school.

The role of a Mental Health Champion is to be a positive role model by showing empathy, respect, and kindness in their everyday actions. While they are not counsellors or responsible for solving other pupils' problems, they help others feel included, encourage them to seek support from trusted adults when needed, and promote activities that support positive wellbeing. Through their leadership, they help build a school community where everyone feels safe, respected, and able to thrive.

ECO Ambassadors

Our Eco Ambassadors work with Mrs Fox and Mrs Curvis. They are passionate about protecting the environment and helping our school become a more sustainable place. They encourage everyone to care for the world around them by promoting environmentally friendly habits and leading by example.

As Eco Ambassadors, the pupils help to develop and lead projects that improve the school's environmental impact. They  promote recycling and waste reduction, encourage energy and water conservation, care for our outdoor spaces and take part in environmental awareness events. They also gather ideas from their peers and work with staff to make positive changes across the school.

The role of an Eco Ambassador is to inspire others to make environmentally responsible choices, show respect for the natural world, and encourage the whole school community to work together towards a greener future. Through their leadership, they help create a school where sustainability is valued and everyone understands the importance of protecting our planet for future generations. They are a group of pupil leaders who truly live out our school values in what they do!

Digital Leaders

Our Digital Leaders promote the safe, responsible, and effective use of technology throughout the school. They are enthusiastic about digital learning and support both pupils and staff in making the most of technology to enhance teaching, learning, and communication.

As Digital Leaders, pupils help to share good practice in using digital tools, support the use of technology during lessons and school events, test new resources, and assist with simple technology-related tasks where appropriate. They also promote online safety by helping to raise awareness of how to use the internet responsibly, respectfully, and securely through assemblies, campaigns, and special events such as Safer Internet Day.

Sports Leaders

Our Sports Leaders are pupils who are enthusiastic about physical activity and healthy lifestyles. They help to promote sport, teamwork, and active play across the school, encouraging everyone to take part, try their best, and enjoy being active.

The role of a Sports Leader is to be a positive role model by demonstrating good sportsmanship, respect, determination, and inclusion. They encourage others to take part with confidence, celebrate effort as well as achievement, and help create a positive sporting environment where everyone feels welcome, supported, and inspired to be active.
